There comes a time in everyone’s life when they feel that it’s a perfect time to make some changes to your life. If you aren’t as fit as you’d like to be or you’re carrying a few pounds too many then now is as good a time as ever to get started.
The problem when it comes to losing weight or getting fit is that most people simply do what they already know, they don’t necessarily do what works…
And this is a big problem. Do you know that one definition of madness is to keep doing the same thing over and over but expecting to see different results!
If you’ve tried something in the past that hasn’t been an effective long term solution, why would you think it could work this time around?
Weight loss knowledge is evolving all the time and there have been some very interesting breakthroughs over the last few years, like the discovery of super foods and the anti-oxidant properties they possess. The 5:2 diet which seems to work well if you follow the rules closely and stick to 2 fasting days and 5 normal, healthy eating days.
But unfortunately if you’re still doing the same things you’ve always done, then you’re very likely to get only the same results.
If you drink too much, you won’t lose weight until you cut down or stop altogether. If you have a sweet tooth, you won’t get the body of your dreams until you manage to control your cravings and if you’re a self confessed couch potato you won’t have the fitness to live a fit and healthy life until you get up and start taking action.
So the moral of this article is that instead of looking to new and improved ways of getting fit and in to shape, accept that change is the biggest thing you need to do. Often a change in attitude or a new way of looking at things is all that’s needed. Don’t do what you’ve always done if it hasn’t worked for you in the past.
So if you’re weak when it comes to sweet foods, don’t buy them and limit your access to them. If you love an alcoholic drink in an evening, find something else to do to break the cycle and if you can’t be bothered to exercise, why not enlist the help and support of friends and family and do something together.
We’re only on this earth for a short amount of time, so make the most of it. If you don’t like the way you look or feel, don’t put it off, do something about it!
But remember, no one else is responsible for the way you are, there’s only one person who can do anything about it… YOU!
To your health and fitness
